Candle care

When lighting the candle for the first time, it’s crucial to let it burn until the wax melts across the entire surface to the vessel’s sides. This initial step is not just a formality but a critical practice that prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn for the entire lifespan of the candle.

This may take up to 4 hours.

It’s important not to burn the candle for more than four hours at a time for safety reasons and to prevent overheating.

Trim the wick to 5 mm before each burn to promote an even burn and steady flame and limit sooting/mushrooming of the wick.

If soot forms on the inside of the vessel, extinguish the candle, wait for it to cool, and wipe with a clean, damp cloth. Trim the wick and relight.

Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers, or becomes too high. These signs indicate that the candle is not burning correctly and isn’t controlled. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for drafts (which can cause uneven burning and excessive smoke) before relighting.

It’s vital not to leave your candles unattended. Always place them away from drafts, children, and pets and ensure they’re on a heat-resistant base and set on a level, stable surface. These safety measures are designed to give you peace of mind while enjoying your candle.
